The issue of problem gambling affects the family members of the problem gambler as well as the gambler. Family members can be painfully affected by the actions of the gambler. Each individual within the family system-spouses, parents, siblings, and children has a unique response to the gambling and consequences of the addiction. IN this session, we will explore the various family responses to the gambling and the case management of various issues. Special attention will be paid to the legal concerns, particularly regarding community property law, financial protection, crises intervention, and preparing for recovery versus abstinence in the family system.
