The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling recognizes that most people who gamble do so for recreation with no negative effects. However, the gambling industry has taken steps to address Problem Gambling among the small percentage of their customers who develop problems. The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling provides training to owners, managers, and employees of the gambling industry.

The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling is dedicated to increasing public awareness of problem gambling, expanding the availability of services for problem gamblers and their families, and encouraging research and programs for prevention and education.

Studies indicate that effective public awareness can help prevent an increase in Problem Gambling rates. One of the most important goals of the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling (ECPG) is to increase public awareness of Problem Gambling. Adolescents and Problem Gambling
Studies indicate adolescents have higher rates of Problem Gambling than adults. ECPG provides awareness presentations for adolescents, educators, and professionals working with at-risk youth and school classes and youth groups.
